Making Your House Sell-Ready is Crucial

Selling your home is a major decision, and it should not be taken lightly. At eXp, we understand that selling one of your largest and most significant investments shouldn’t be a last-minute thing. Planning and preparation do have to be done ahead of time in order to get the best price for your house. Lucky for you, our head of the NJ Real Estate Experts at eXp, Curtis Counts, has put together a checklist to help you get your home sell-ready!

Making your House Sell-Ready Isn’t Even That Hard

Selling one of your largest and most significant assets shouldn’t be a last-minute thing. Planning and preparation must be done ahead of time, and lucky for you, Curtis Counts, head of the NJ Real Estate Experts at eXp, has created a checklist to get your home sell-ready. Here are 6 steps you can take to make sure your house is ready for the market.

1- Get the Curb Appeal Right: The first impression is everything! Make sure that buyers are greeted with a beautiful exterior when they pull up to your house. Keep the lawn mowed, bushes trimmed, and a fresh coat of paint on the outside if needed. This will give potential buyers an inviting feeling as soon as they arrive at your property.

2- Fresh Paint – but only if it needs it!: Pets and kids can cause superficial damage that can easily be fixed with some fresh paint. If there are scuffs on the walls or pet hair on carpets, make sure to touch those areas up before you list your house.  It’s also important to stick with neutral colors when painting so that buyers can see themselves living in the space.

3- Deep Clean: A deep clean is essential before listing your home for sale. Dusting shelves, vacuuming carpets and furniture, cleaning windows, etc., all need to be done thoroughly in order for buyers to feel comfortable in their new potential home. You don’t want them thinking about all the work they’ll have to do after moving into their new place!

4- Smelling Good: Bad smells are one of the quickest ways to turn off potential buyers. Make sure you air out any musty smells before showings by opening windows or using air fresheners if necessary. Natural scents like citrus or fresh linen will make buyers feel welcome without being too overpowering.  You want them feeling at home when they walk through and not uncomfortable due to bad smells!

5- Declutter: Clutter can give off an untidy vibe which makes people feel overwhelmed when they enter a space. Clear out excess items from countertops, closets, cupboards – anywhere where there might be too much stuff lying around! Buyers want enough room for their own belongings without having yours taking over the space – so decluttering is key here!

6- Keep it Clean for Every Showing!: This is incredibly important – keep your house clean for every single showing! You only get one shot at making an excellent first impression so make sure it counts by tidying up between each visit from prospective buyers by vacuuming carpets/rugs and wiping down surfaces such as countertops and tables etc…

Sell-Ready Houses Are The Most Profitable

Selling a house isn’t always easy – but with Curtis Counts’ checklist above you’re well on your way towards getting yours sell-ready! With these simple steps you’ll be able to ensure that potential buyers have an inviting experience when viewing your property – giving you maximum value when selling yours! Don’t forget though – keep it clean between each viewing – this really does make all the difference in creating a lasting impression on potential buyers! Good luck with selling your home everyone!
